Gulf Coast Bay Buddy

Bay Buddy is an innovative educational program taught in elementary schools with the dual objective that the children will take this information home to teach their parents and that the children themselves will become environmentally sensitive, responsible adults.

Due to generosity of donors through the Global Giving campaign, the Gulf Coast Bay Buddy is being updated. Illustrator Betsy Walker is devising new characters that will teach students about stormwater, litter, conservation, and making wise decisions. ACF staff and partners are creating pre- and post-visit materials that align with state curriculum standards. The activity booklet and presentation are also being updated. ACF will debut the new Gulf Coast Bay Buddy Program in Fall 2010 to schools in Baldwin and Mobile Counties.

Bay Buddy presentations are targeted for grades K-3 and are presented throughout the school year by trained volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a Bay Buddy volunteer, please contact the ACF office at 990-6002.
