Gulf Coast Bay Buddy Program

The Gulf Coast Bay Buddy Program is a free educational enrichment program that teaches basic conservation concepts to students in grades 1 - 3. Our grade specific curriculum was updated for the 2020 school year and is still tied to our state's course objectives.

Staff and trained community volunteers visit local elementary schools and lead a PowerPoint presentation highlighting the importance of a healthy environment and how student choices can affect the natural world. At the conclusion, all participating students receive an activity booklet reinforcing the lessons taught.

On April 9th, ACF reformatted our Bay Buddy presentation so parents can show those to their first, second, and third grade students for free! In addition, please click here for the 3rd grade Osprey Lesson Plan.

Since 1993, the Alabama Coastal Foundation (ACF) has worked to promote a culture where environmental decisions are based on an accurate understanding of the underlying science, the dissemination of factual information, and the engagement of government, industry, and citizens to find solutions to our coastal challenges. We bring that vision into reality through our inclusive environmental stewardship approach.
