Planned Giving
During the 20th Anniversary of the Alabama Coastal Foundation (ACF), the Board of Directors voted to launch a Planned Giving Campaign in 2014 to build our endowment to invest in the future work of the organization. All funds raised through this Campaign will be managed by the Community Foundation of South Alabama which has demonstrated significant returns on their portfolios. The mission of the Alabama Coastal Foundation is to improve and protect Alabama’s coastal environment through cooperation, education and participation. To help us serve this vital mission, we hope that you would consider creating a planned giving bequest.
Since 1993, ACF has worked to create a healthy balance between the conservation needs of our priceless coastal resources and the inevitable pressures of economic growth. We accomplish our work by bringing together stakeholders with differing interests to facilitate mutually beneficial solutions to our environmental challenges. We provide fair and factual information to encourage responsible citizen action and we offer opportunities for people to play a vital role in preserving the environment and our coastal way of life. We use an education-based approach to conservation: to find a solution, you must first understand the problem. We are dedicated to partnering with citizens, businesses, governmental agencies, elected officials and other non-profits to maximize our resources.
Please consider using one of the following options to support ACF’s work with a planned giving bequest:

A Specific Bequest is a gift of a specific dollar amount or a percentage of total assets that is part of your estate. Please ask your lawyer or estate planner to include the following in your will: I give, bequeath and devise $__________ to the Alabama Coastal Foundation which is a qualified 501c3 organization.

A Residuary Bequest is a gift of all or part of the property remaining in your estate after debts, expenses and specific bequests have been paid, usually stated as a percentage. Please ask your lawyer or estate planner to include the following: I give, bequeath and devise (all or a percentage) of the rest, residue, and remainder of property, both real and personal, wherever situated, which I may own or be entitled to at my death, to the Alabama Coastal Foundation which is a qualified 501c3 organization.

A Contingent Bequest is a bequest that is depends on a precedent event. Please ask your lawyer or estate planner to include the following: I give, bequeath and devise to ___________ the greater of dollar amount (i.e. $25,000) or a percentage (i.e. 20 percent) of the residue of my estate. Should _____________ predecease me, I direct this sum or percentage to the Alabama Coastal Foundation which is a qualified 501c3 organization.
